Dane County Board of Supervisors budget approval

Dane County Supervisors gathered at the City County Building in Madison on Monday to share their thoughts on amendments and give thanks to departments and employees for their hard work.

The Dane County Board of Supervisors approved the Dane County 2024 budget on Monday Nov. 6. The operating budget, the portion responsible for personnel and general operating costs, totals $789,298,454. The capital budget, which accounts for new ventures and projects, is $179,216,700.

As it stands, the budget comes with a 13.6% tax levy increase driven primarily by increased debt service costs. Annual property taxes on the average Madison home will increase by $147.22.
