Waterloo’s 2023 cross country campaign has come to an end. The Pirates bid farewell to this fall’s competition at WIAA sectionals, hosted by Poynette at Shepherds Meadow Golf Course on Friday, Oct. 20. Only the top two teams and top five individuals would advance to the following week’s state finals. No Pirate was among those select few.

The boys finished 12th of the 21 teams in the sectional with a team score of 236. The girls finished 17th of 17 with a score of 431. Fennimore and Pardeeville were the sectional’s two team qualifiers for the boys while Lancaster and Darlington moved on to represent the girls.
