Waunakee airplane crash

Waunakee residents watch as police and firefighters respond to a plane crash on Knightsbridge Road near Kingston Way. Witnesses, including many children who had been playing outside at the time, reported seeing the plane come down Wednesday afternoon along Knightsbridge Road, bouncing off a parked Chevy Impala before crashing into a minivan. The pilot and single passenger were injured, but were able to exit the airplane without assistance, to be taken from the scene by a responding ambulance.

The neighborhood of Knightsbridge Road was active on a bright summer afternoon, when things took a turn as a single-engine airplane crashed into a parked minivan.

One of the many young witnesses explained that had he had seen the crash, just west of the Kingston Way intersection, and ran into his nearby house to tell his dad that their car window had just been hit by a plane.
